How to go to confession
Examine
Spend a few quiet moments reflecting on your actions, choices, and relationship with God since your last confession.
Confess
Enter the confessional (you may kneel anonymously behind the screen or sit face-to-face) and honestly confess your sins to the priest.
Receive
The priest will offer words of spiritual counsel and assign you a "penance"—usually a short prayer or action to complete afterward.
absolution
You will pray the Act of Contrition, and the priest will extend his hands to pray the words of absolution, freeing you from your sins in Christ's name.
